BDVA is organising a key workshop titled “A Deep Dive into Distributed AI” on 10 June from 13:00 to 16:00 CEST, continuing its series of focused sessions on transformative trends in Data and AI Technologies.

Building on the momentum of earlier workshops held on 5 March and 8 May, this upcoming event will turn the spotlight on Distributed AI, an increasingly pivotal domain in the evolution of intelligent digital systems.

Distributed AI encompasses a range of technologies and system architectures designed to function across decentralised computing environments. From federated learning and edge computing to multi-agent coordination and hybrid infrastructures, Distributed AI enables intelligent systems to collaborate securely and efficiently across diverse networks.

As vast volumes of data are increasingly generated at the network edge, the limitations of traditional, centralised AI models (particularly regarding latency, cost and data privacy) have become apparent. Distributed AI addresses these challenges and is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of next-generation digital ecosystems. Its impact is being felt across a variety of sectors, including smart manufacturing, healthcare, transportation and environmental monitoring.

The workshop will serve several key purposes:

  • Demystify the concept of Distributed AI and define its technological boundaries.
  • Examine the tangible benefits, trade-offs and current maturity of Distributed AI implementations in practical scenarios.
  • Highlight notable applications, real-world use cases and European projects advancing the field.
  • Facilitate discussion around critical issues such as standardisation, interoperability, data governance and digital infrastructure.
  • Deliver practical insights and policy recommendations tailored for BDVA members, EU stakeholders and innovation leaders.

This session offers a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of Distributed AI’s transformative potential and to align their strategic initiatives with cutting-edge developments across Europe.
