Energy Task Force

Focus and activities

This Task Force focuses on uniting stakeholders involved in the energy value chain.

The Energy Task Force brings together stakeholders from the very large diversity of actors involved in the energy value chain. Their activities and interactions on physical equipment and services that enable the functioning of this value chain generate a huge amount of data. These data must be mobilised and exploited to respond to the socio-economic stakes of the energy transition and environmental challenges.

The current physical grid, that supports the energy value chain from its production through transmission, distribution and commercialisation to customers, will move from a purely electro-mechanical approach to connected assets to a highly intelligent and connected form offering intelligent services in the cloud and at the edge that will rely on advanced equipment connectivity to exploit data in a holistic manner.

Nevertheless, in order to get most of this data we need to ensure data interoperability and trust between these different actors from the energy value chain. Thus, a consensus amongst these actors is needed to define and develop existing standards (such as GAIA-X and IDS) to ensure data interoperability and trust. This TF Subgroup can foster the adoption and development of such standards by putting together different actors from the energy value chain.

The BDVA Task Force Energy is currently focused on:

  • Identify how Data and AI can support existing industrial cases for the energy market.
  • To facilitate the technological adoption of AI and Data on energy market operations. The real-time energy market, grid balancing, and forecasting markets with complete or partial energy models.
  • To provide clear views on AI-powered innovation for existing market gaps. By analysing the AI’s role on several energy markets, understanding the potential contributions and gaps on industrial demand response, energy efficiency, adaptative pricing strategies (DER, P2P) and local flexibility markets.

BDVA’s Task Forces meet regularly, discussing the latest updates from the ecosystem, collaborating on publications and organising events. Check out BDVA’s activities and make sure to stay tuned!
