Motorbike Exhaust Burn

G'day
I remember one stupid New Year's eve out on the country block I went motorbike riding in shorts and thongs.
I decided to do a small jump, and when I landed the sand was so soft the motor bike slipped out from under me and I fell ...with the motor bike exhaust on my leg.
To my horror I burnt my leg and was in so much pain I was instantly swelling and oozing puss... sorry but its true and quite graphic.
We had some aloe vera on the farm and I sliced it open and lathered my leg with the gel.
I was taken to hospital and they washed it off and put an antiseptic (I think it was beta tide). They used distilled water and bandaged my leg up.
It was on the return to the farm I realised that the throbbing was so painful I was in even more pain than when I had the exhaust on my leg.
I decided to take off the bandages and put the aloe vera on again. It was then I felt soothing and the throbbing disappear.
I kept the cm thick gel layer on my leg for the next few weeks always making sure I had a dried out layer and always relayered with a wet gel layer of aloe vera gel scrapped straight out of the plants leaves. Within weeks the scarring disappeared.
I recommend this to anyone with burns no matter how large or small.
I have pots that grow prolifically and they don't need watering much at all, even here in southern eastern Australia.
Hope this helps anyone with pain from a burn.
Regards,
Robert
Ruth's response:
Wonderful! Thank you, Robert! I love stories like this. It reminds me of my burn to my hand just last year at Easter (story on this website with photos).
In fact, I'm using split-open aloe vera leaves on some insect bites these days that are itching like crazy. Nothing soothes like aloe vera gel!
Blessings,
& thanks for sharing,
Ruth
