Brewing Lots of Herbal Teas!

I do apologize for my silence the last few weeks. I have been very busy working on a big batch of pages with recipes for herbal teas. They are not quite ready, but when I add them to this site, you will have enough for a whole book.

In fact, I'm putting them into an e-book which you will be able to download and print out, so that you don't have to run back to the computer whenever you want to look up another one. No doubt you'll have your favourites soon memorized, and can pass your printout of the Herbal Teas book on to someone else.

I can tip you off on the categories; there will be
Herbal Teas for Colds and Flu
Herbal Teas for Digestion
Herbal Teas for Energy and to improve memory
Herbal Teas for relaxing
Herbal Teas for healing from various ailments
Herbal Teas that heal, but need to be brewed like coffee.

I even found some for clearing up bad breath. Did you know that drinking tea instead of coffee, or other flavoured drinks?

Got a few other tricks up my sleeve too! :)

End of Your Rope Tea

I've just discovered a very old book with herbal tea recipes in it. I want to go over it very carefully and see if perhaps I can offer more of those recipes on this site, or perhaps even the whole 33 page book. However, for now, I can't resist sharing just one recipe called, End of Your Rope Tea. It is so very simple too.

It only calls for two ingredient herbs. If you haven't got these herbs handy so you cna dry them yourself, go to a health food store and look for the shelf with the little bags of drired herbs. Find one of camomile, and one of peppermint.

You will also need a teapot, or perhaps a tall ceramic mug, and a teaball.

Into the teaball put one tablespoon of camomile,
with one tablespoon of peppermint (regular mint might do in a pinch)

Drop the teaball into the teapot of tall mug which is filled with hot water. Allow that to steep for five minutes. Then pour into your cup, sit back, and let go of your rope.

What? No teaball yet?

Well, if you need this before you can go buy one, you could just put the dried herbs into the mug, pour the hot boiling water over it and cover the mug with a saucer. When it is ready to drink, pour the tea through a strainer into a second cup so you don't end up with the herbs in your teeth.

Remember to be resourceful - it may lengthen your "rope."

It's Okay to Smear Aloe Vera gel Over Your Face

Recently someone asked whether it is okay to smear aloe vera gel over your face.

Oh by all means! It is the smartest thing you can do for your face! The natural ingredients in aloe vera gel will go straight to work and cleanse and heal your skin down into the pores, and even the blood vessels beneath. Your skin will become soft and smooth and really clean.

Years ago I read of a woman who worked in a hot kitchen, and she often smeared mayonaise over her face like a face cream. It cooled her off, but it also gave her a beautiful complexion that others envied. I was aghast at the idea of putting food on your face, but then I read how mayonaise has all kinds of healthy ingredients that feed your skin, and would certainly enhance the skin if used on a regular basis. I am now convinced that aloe vera does that even better. That's why I often keep a pot of aloe vera plants int the bathroom.

If you check my "How to Eat Your Aloe Vera" page you'll find that after scraping out the gel to eat, I usually use the still gel-moist inside of the green skin to wipe over my face. I hate to throw it out before I've used it up thoroughly. I tell you, it feels positively delicious on my face!

My Dad liked to use aloe vera gel as an after shave lotion to sooth the spots which smarted from the shaver's work. Because he needed it daily he bought a bottle of aloe vera gel from a drugstore, and used that just so he wouldn't use up my plants too fast. You could do the same if you can't keep enough plants on hand.

A nurse that came around to check on Mom, discovered I had aloe vera plants and she came to beg and buy them for her teens who had acne. She knew if she kept one in the bathroom, her teens would use the plant on their faces, and keep their acne in check.

What the Benefits of Eating Fresh Aloe Vera?

The benefits are many! It is the BEST way to get the most out of aloe vera.

Unfortunately, most of us don't have a field of aloe vera growing behind our homes, so we may have to settle for commercial products. However, if you have room to grow a few pots full of aloe vera in your home, and even if you only eat or drink your fresh aloe vera when you are having a health crisis - say for a week or two, and then go back to an occasional dose for maintenance you will be way ahead of other folks.

Aloe vera has a special healing ingredient in the gel that goes to work in moments to heal minor skin problems when you smear it on. You can take it internally too, as my Dad did to heal up stomach ulcers, and shingles. By the same token it will heal up other internal problems and imbalances, such as your immune system, or growths like kidney and gallstones.

When the aloe gel is put into capsules or a juice that has to have some shelf-life in a store, I'm sure they add some preservative and will diminish the effectiveness of the aloe vera's healing ingredient known as ambrotose. This is why I say, use the fresh aloe vera whenever you can. Settle for the commercial products only when you must.

Aloe Vera and Healing Herbs are so Handy!

God has placed pretty well all the pharmacy we're going to need in the plants growing near us. Many people have an aloe vera plant in the house. You may only think of it when you cut your finger or get a sudden burn in the kitchen, but that plant has many more benefits than you perhaps realize. My Dad loved to tell others how his ulcers and shingles were healed with my aloe vera plants.

My discoveries about and propagation of a large aloe vera plant received when my grandmother needed nursing care, gradually led to an interest and much reading up on other herbs. Some sound exotic and far away, however, God has generously placed an assortment of healing plants in every part of the world.
